STAY UP TO DATE ON CHANGES AND UPCOMING EVENTS
It's February 2017 as I write this and the weather is bleary in my study but at the pool it's warm and the water is 85 degrees. The hard part is just getting in the car to go, but once you're at the pool it's inviting.
It's time to start thinking about spring and summer. Before you know it, you'll be planning vacations, making preparations for kid's summer activities and the idea of water activities will occur to you. Let me say this to all the adults who are reading this who don't know how to swim or can only be in water where they can stand; learn to swim yourself before you teach your children. You never know when a child will need you to save them and if you can't swim and are afraid, you will not be able to help. You know how the pilot on a plane tells you to pull down your own oxygen mask first before assisting your family, it is because you cannot help if you are unconscious. The same goes for swimming. My friend Susan and I specialize in fearful adults. We are patient, kind, never yell, push or demean. We are always in the water with our students so that we can be ever present to provide support, help and safety. There was an ad on TV many years ago that I always remember, The Life You Save May be Your Own and I usually add to that my saying, Or Someone You Love. Don't wait till the last minute to call and make an appointment to begin your lessons so that by the time summer is here you can be in the water with your family and friends enjoying yourself, free of fear.
